Local Shopkeepers support St. Patrick's Litter Campaign

2nd May 2016

The pupils from St. Patrick's have become very concerned recently about the amount of litter that is around and in the school grounds. After investigation by the school's Eco litter patrol it was noticed that broken bottles, take-away cartons and sweet papers would lay on the paths surrounding the school as well as items being thrown over the school fence. The Eco Committee decided that we should hold a poster competition to design a poster that would be noticed by the local community and help make people aware of the damage they are doing to our environment. There was a tremendous response from the pupils and we did select two winners and there were twenty-four runners up. The winners were Eoin (P.7) and Zoe (P.6) and they personally visited the local shopkeepers asking them to display the posters. Liz Drew from Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council visited the school to congratulate the pupils on the sterling work they are doing to create a cleaner environment. Some of he local shopkeepers are in the photographs.
