‘ECO’ Catholic School’s Week

30th Jan 2020

This week, as part of some cross-curricular work tying Eco-School activities in with Catholic Schools Week, the Eco-Committee and Mr Kelly delivered two assemblies (P1-P4 and P5-P7) to our school.

Mr Kelly discussed with the pupils how during Catholic Schools Week, Pope Francis encourages us to, “Live in harmony with Earth,” and to think carefully about how we can help protect the beautiful gift that God created for us. Our pupils heard about how climate change is one of the greatest threats to all forms of life on our planet, and how Pope Francis believes it is vital that we make the younger generation aware of their responsibility as they grow older.

Our school’s Eco-Committee delivered a wonderful assembly explaining all about what climate change is, what causes it, and most importantly, how we can help to slow it down. They discussed what our carbon footprints are and how we can help to reduce them. They all spoke extremely well, full of confidence, in front of the rest of the school. They deserve huge congratulations for their part in writing and presenting the assembly. Well done to all involved!
