Language & Literacy
We, in St. Patrick's Primary School, believe that the effective use of language for learning is vitally important to our pupils’ education and progress in every area of the curriculum. We promote and support the development of children’s talking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Pupils are immersed in a stimulating environment of print, surrounded by books and other reading materials presented in an inviting and attractive way.
Children have opportunities, across all areas of study, to present ideas, relate experiences and develop understanding in ways in which require a growing awareness of audience and purpose.
Progression is observed in pupils’ increasing independence in talking, listening, reading, writing and thinking in their understanding and response to what they hear, read and write.
