WORLD BOOK DAY 2024
It’s the year 1847 in rural Ireland. The potato crop has failed for the second year running and the poorest people in our country are truly struggling with starvation. Some have emigrated, some are begging on the streets whilst other families are heading for the work house.
Our P7 pupils today celebrated World Book Day 2024, by dressing up as Victorian characters from their class novel “Under the hawthorn tree.” Written by Marita Conlon Mc Kenna. Today we saw the starving, the poor, the wealthy, farmers, servants, teachers, cooks, mothers, fathers, and of course Queen Victoria herself all dressed up.
Well done to all our pupils from Mr O’Hare’s and Mrs Perry’s classes for such a super effort. Have a peep at our photos. There’s more to follow tomorrow.
