St. Patrick’s Say Goodbye to Mrs Perry and Mrs Bennett

27th Jun 2024

Today, we gathered to honour and celebrate two remarkable individuals who have dedicated their lives to the education and nurturing of countless young minds in our school. With mixed emotions of gratitude and sadness, we bid farewell to Mrs. Grainne Perry and Mrs. Lois Bennett, our beloved retiring teachers, who have been an integral part of St. Patrick's Primary School for an incredible 34 years each, since being appointed permanently together in 1990.

Both of them have been more than just teachers; they have been mentors, role models, and guardians to our pupils. Their warmth, compassion, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child have touched the hearts of all who have had the privilege of being taught by them.

Mrs. Perry's unwavering commitment to our pupils' education and personal growth has left an unforgettable mark on our school community. Her passion for Mathematics and Religious Education has ignited a love for these subjects within generations of pupils. Her patience, guidance, and ability to make complex concepts understandable have empowered countless young minds to excel academically.

Mrs. Bennett's musical talents and dedication to our choir and school performances throughout the years have brought joy and inspiration to our entire school community. Her passion for music has not only enriched the lives of our pupils but has also instilled in them a deep appreciation for the arts. Her tireless efforts to help children grow in fun, informative lessons have created memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Throughout the years, they have exemplified the true spirit of St. Patrick's Primary School, going above and beyond to ensure that each child feels valued, supported, and inspired.

As they embark on this new chapter in their lives, we want to express our deepest gratitude for their invaluable contributions to St. Patrick's Primary School.

Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Bennett, while we will miss your presence in our school, we take comfort in knowing that the impact you have made will continue to shape lives for years to come.

At the end of today’s Special Assembly dedicated to Mrs Perry and Mrs Bennett, both teachers were presented with a wonderful momento of their time in St. Patrick’s.

Guided by Mr O’Hare, some of our very talented artists in P7 worked tirelessly over the last number of weeks to create a masterpiece fit for display in any home.

Aoibheann, Aoife-Mae, Nathan, Holly, Molly, Claire-Lily and Audrina sketched their original ideas to best encapsulate both teachers before putting the final piece together.

A heartfelt piece of work, produced by the children of St. Patrick’s, was in their own words, the perfect gift to say goodbye. ?

On behalf of the entire St. Patrick's Primary School community, we extend our warmest wishes and heartfelt thanks to both of them. Their dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to our pupils and school will never be forgotten.

We say goodbye with all of our love. Happy retirement to you both!
