P7 trip to the Argory.

The P7 pupils from Mrs.Perry's and Mr.O'Hare's classes visited the Argory on 4th October part of their World Around Us topic of Victorian Ireland. The pupils were shown the duties of four different members of the working staff. Mr Loye the Head Butler explained that the Master of the Big House wished to hire a few more staff members and that written job applications could be posted or hand delivered to himself. The position of Lady's Maid, Gentleman's Valet, Garden Hand and House Maid were all available for the pupils to apply for. The P7s were taken on a tour of the Argory house and had all the duties they would be expected to carry out explained to them,if their application was successful. The children were also provided with suitable Victorian costumes for the day which helped them feel they had traveled back to the 1840s.
