P7 pupils visit BEE SAFE Workshop

14th Mar 2016

Mr O'Hare's and Mrs Perry's P7 classes recently took part in a BEE SAFE workshop organised by the Policing and Community Safety Partnership.During the event  the children learned about a range of safety issues from a variety of agencies. Two members of the fire service spoke to the children about the dangers of fire in the home and how most fires start accidentally and are preventable. Two Officers from the PSNI spoke about personal safety outside of the home and of Internet safety. The children also were also taken on board the Translink Safety Bus.Inside the bus children were instructed how to behave safely, how to get the drivers attention properly, and how to use a seat belt. Whilst waiting on a bus the children were shown how to correctly signal for a bus to stop and how to give the bus lots of room as it pulls in for passengers. The importance of wearing helmets while cycling was stressed as was the danger of button batteries with very young children. Lots and lots of great advice.
