P6 Road Bowl Success
On 28th June 2016, our school met up with four other schools to compete in a Philip White Road Bowl Tournament. Only P6 classes took part to make it all fair. The tournament took place in the Palace Stables and was organised by Chris Mallon, Paul McCann and Joe McVeigh. Eight children from Mrs Gilroy's class were picked including Eoin Dynes, Christopher Daly, Aine Whyte and Caitlin O'Neil. Also eight people from Mrs Hughes's class were picked including Eoin Vallely, Philip Duggan, Ariana Derry Curran and Emily Klovaite. The ''bowl'' or ''bullet'' is an iron and steel cannonball weighing 28 ounces. There are two or more players in a match or ''score''. The sixteen people chosen were put into three groups of five but one was made up out of six people. Bullet throwing is a traditional sport and people don't want it to be forgotten. We won the trophy this year because we covered the most distance from all our shots totalled together. The trophy was presented to us by the Lord Mayor of Armagh.
