Historic Day as Sam Maguire visits St. Patrick’s!
17th Sep 2024
Tuesday 17th September 2024 will go down as a very special day in the history of St. Patrick’s Primary School as we had a visit from Armagh GAA coaches Fintan and Aileen, as well as Armagh Harps GFC and Armagh GAA’s All-Ireland winning hero, Joe McElroy.
They weren’t the only special guests in attendance as we were joined by the biggest prize in all of Irish sport - The Sam Maguire Cup!
On what was a truly unforgettable day, the atmosphere in our school was electric as we welcomed all of our visitors with a guard of honour from our Primary 7 pupils and a true St. Patrick’s roar as they entered the hall.
Thank you so much to Fintan and Aileen for gracing us with Sam’s presence, and also to Armagh Harps’ representatives - Youth Officer Charlie Agnew, and Senior players and our past pupils, Cathal Agnew and Luke McKeever, for their attendance.
Our greatest thanks goes to Joe McElroy, who took time out of his own working day (thank you St Paul's Bessbrook for letting us borrow him for a while!) to visit us. Joe delivered an incredibly thoughtful and inspiring speech to our pupils with its core message being to love who you are and be proud of yourself. Joe is an excellent representative of his school, his club, his county, and his family.
Lifelong memories and special moments were made for all pupils and staff alike. This video is a brief snapshot of our day - stay tuned for more soon, including a unique performance of a Rock n’ Roll classic.
