Great Morning of Gaelic Football

20th Mar 2025
Our Gaelic Footballers had a fantastic morning up in Abbey Park this morning with two sets of boys and two sets of girls taking in the sunshine as they were playing against St. Francis PS from Lurgan.

Our Girls' football team had a fantastic win with some superb football on display as they progressed to the Semi-Final. In a game full of energy and plenty of skill, they fully deserved their victory. Having built up a good lead in the first half, they added to this in the second half to take the win and move on to next week's match.

Our Boys' football team weren't so fortunate as they lost out by just one point after extra-time. In an end-to-end encounter with amazing scores being taken by both teams, a late equaliser from distance meant the game ended in a draw and headed to extra-time. They were leading at the interval of ET but unfortunately a superb St. Francis team pulled them back and won by the single score. The referee and all teachers were very quick to credit the boys on both sides, telling them it was one of the best games they have seen recently.

We also had the opportunity to take out a second boys and girls team who played two very enjoyable games, providing them with the chance to improve their skills under pressure in a match environment which they loved with some fabulous point-taking on show.

Thank you to St. Francis PS Lurgan for making the trip to Abbey Park, and to Armagh Harps for their continued use of their superb facilities.

Huge congratulations to our girls who now look ahead to a semi-final vs. St. John The Baptist PS to be played at some stage over the next week.

Well done to all involved on what was a great morning of Gaelic Football!
