Girls' Soccer team lift trophy
St Patrick's were well represented at the Tri County Soccer Competition held in the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown lately.A p7 boys' team and a p7 girls' team took part in the 7 a side competition held in glorious sunshine. Over twenty primary schools attended and were divided up according to their school pupil intake number. The St Pat's boys team played five matches qualifying for the quarter finals and progressing to the semi finals. There they met with Howard PS from Dungannon and were heading for extra time when a lucky goal trickled into the St Pat's boys' goal. Very unlucky indeed however the lads were gracious in defeat. The girls' team were also doing really well in the group stages and they too qualified for the quarter finals. Unfortunately they left the competition at this stage but were asked to remain at the competition until the prize giving ceremony after lunch time. During the prize giving the St Patrick's Girls were presented with a large trophy awarded for being "The Best Sporting Primary School" on the day. It was said that the girls played with smiles on their faces and laughed and supported each other throughout. They were sporting both in victory and defeat and were an example to all footballers male and female on the day. What a super award. Thanks to Mr Marc Cullen and Miss Tanya Mc Coy for all their help on the day too.
