â€Famine Times†in P7
The pupils from Mr O’Hare, Mrs Perry and Mrs Bennett’s classes travelled back in time recently, right back to 1845. All three classes have been investigating the causes of the Great Irish Famine as part of their “World Around Us “ work this term and decided to get dressed up, to really get a true feel for this Victorian era in Ireland. The children dressed up as lords and ladies from the “big house”, some came as servants and lady’s maids, others came as wealthy farmers, whilst others dressed up as the poorest in society, penniless and begging on the streets. There were money lenders, pawn brokers and mothers and fathers trying their best to provide for their families. Have a browse at our photos attached.
