Book Week 2025!

29th Mar 2025
What a week for the creative minds and readers in St. Patrick’s Primary School as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our much-loved Book Week!

The support from our pupils and their families for our Book Fair was phenomenal, with hundreds of books and stationery items going to good homes. Each purchase helped earn new books for our own school library and Accelerated Reading resources, so we are immensely grateful to our whole school community for their support.

Renowned author Declan Carville spent two full days in school regaling our boys and girls with tales from his books, telling them of the magical Fairy Glen in Rostrevor, the legends from the Giant’s Causeway, and the Lost Seagull from Donegal, amongst many others. He shared experiences from his career as an author and gave tips on how the children can improve their own writing.

We had a “Teacher Swap” morning, with many of our staff moving to a different year group to share a story and complete a craft, much to the excitement of our pupils. A fun morning that was something different, providing more memories for them to carry forward.

The school has been alive and buzzing with artistic activities in class, studies of an author or a book, pupils finding enjoyment through drama and roleplay, and new displays being created both inside and outside of the class, none more so than our classroom doors being decorated again along the theme of a book or a love of reading. Have a look at the photos to be wowed at the imagination and effort on show.

St. Patrick’s Primary School is always a special place to be. We hope that this week has perhaps felt just that little bit extra special for our boys and girls and that we have helped to create new memories of something special.
