Teams attend Pearse Ogs Annual Blitz

29th Oct 2018

St Patrick’s entered three teams into this year’s Pearse Ogs Primary School Gaelic football blitz . The competition was held in Pearse Og Park on Friday 19th October with lots of the local primary school entering both boys’ and girls’ teams. It turned out to be a very successful day of Gaelic football action with both our boys teams and the girls team making it comfortably through the group stages into the semi final knockout stages. The boys A team met St Oliver Plunketts PS in their  Cup semi final however with scores drawn at full time the boys faced extra time. Still drawn after extra time the match went to golden score and with exhaustion setting in the Ballyhegan lads scored and progressed to the final.

The boys B team played the match of the day beating the CBS in their semi final however met a strong Our Lady’s team in the final and were unfortunately beaten by only one point at the final whistle of the shield competition.

The St Patrick’s girls team also played some superb football and progressed from their semi final into the final against CBS. After a battling match it was the CBS girls who lifted the trophy.

All in all a great day for the St Patrick’s team who were a credit to our school...playing fairly...playing with strength...enjoying their sport.

Special thanks to Chris Mc Cann for helping with the boys’ B team and to Christina Clarke for helping with the girls’ team on the day.
