Apple Blossom Swimming Gala Success

4th Jun 2019

Sixteen boys and girls from Primary Six and Seven were chosen recently to represent St Patrick’s PS in this year’s Apple Blossom Swimming Gala. The team, made up of eight boys and eight girls, competed in every individual heat in back crawl, freestyle and breaststroke in both age groups. Following the heats, the team had a nervous wait until the afternoon session of the gala, to find out whether they had managed to qualify for the finals. The news was great as all children managed to make it through to finals in either individual or freestyle relay events.

Great success on the day meant that the team took home a total of 26 medals and five finalist ribbons for their efforts. Special recognition must be given also the the Apple Blossom Swimming Relay Team from St Patrick’s who were narrowly beaten into second place in the final six man relay. This was an outstanding race with the team swimming from fourth to third to second place chasing the eventual winners who won only by an arms length.Super excitement indeed.

Another successful year at the Apple Blossom Gala.
